Capital Corporate Communications (CCC) was established in 1992 by Vimala Sundram. Since 1993, CCC has worked in close collaboration with its sister company Ayesha Harben & Associates (AHA). Together, the two principals have established a dynamic and enduring business partnership that has enabled them to be counted among the most recognisable figures in Public Relations in Malaysia today.

Vimala and Ayesha have been behind some of the most innovative and captivating campaigns, communications strategies, and ground-breaking events in the last two decades.

Under their leadership, all programmes begin the same way – with an uncompromising and rigorous internal process of research, knowledge-building and brainstorming to ensure that what is developed for clients is on trend and on target for maximum impact.

Vimala Sundram

Vimala’s 14-year career in the Administrative and Diplomatic Service has given her an understanding of the public sector and what it takes to ensure targeted and successful programmes for government. In addition, her familiarity and links with government give corporations an advantage in managing government relations.

Leaving the public sector in 1986, Vimala joined Ogilvy and Mather Public Relations as a public relations consultant and subsequently served as a General Manager of another public relations agency. In 1992, she founded Capital Corporate Communications to fulfil her vision of establishing a PR and communications consultancy committed to providing more focused and personalised services to a select client group. Vimala has a BA Hons degree (English and Economics) from the University of Malaya and an MSc in Social Planning for Developing Countries from the London School of Economics.

Ayesha Harben

Ayesha Harben’s approach to integrated public relations has been built on 16 years in journalism and a further 10 years in corporate communications.

Ayesha began her career at the News Straits Times in 1968 as a reporter and rose to become a feature writer whose articles became an integral part of the Sunday read. In 1976, she became Editor of Her World and was subsequently appointed Group Editor of English Publications at Berita Publishing.

She assumed the role of Group Manager Communications at Sime Darby in 1983 where she was responsible for developing communications strategies for the Group, whose operations covered Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, the Philippines and Indonesia. At Sime Darby, Ayesha was instrumental in developing Programmes for several of the company’s divisions, and oversaw the organisation of special events and community service projects on a regional basis.

She established Ayesha Harben & Associates in 1993.
